Coffee night in Harlem, USA

I have two events from last week that I haven't had a chance to blog about yet. Right now, I'd like to share about a lovely night in Harlem we had last Tuesday.
At Society Coffee, on 114th and Frederick Douglass, Taylor Mork of Crop to Cup and I put on a coffee and food pairing featuring coffee from Uganda, Taylor's specialty.
We saw lots of new faces. The crew at Society, especially chef Wiley, put on an amazing mini-feast for everyone, including peppercorn steak (with Colombian coffee), Belgian waffles with chocolate (Uganda), squash and apple soup (Bolivia) and spiced cheesecake (a clear, clean Panama).
Taylor gave a talk about the Ugandan coffee industry, while I prepared the coffee and the cooks prepared the food. It was neat to sip coffee while watching a video of the farmer speaking who grew the coffee.

I host lots of events. Sometimes they blur together in my memory. But I think the Society event will stick out in my mind. Rarely have I felt such a good vibe in a room. It was so much fun!
People seemed really into it... lots of intense discussions about coffee going on.

The owner of Society has even more plans for doing up quality coffee right in the upper reaches of Manhattan. I was very excited by the ideas he had (which I cannot indulge just yet). Thanks, Society Coffee and Harlem neighbors. That was great.
Tomorrow, a post on my other event from last week.
